In late 2023, the pandas who had resided at the Smithsonian Zoo in DC and were some of the most beloved residents of the city returned to China. As we all mourned, I fantasized about how the pandas might celebrate their last moments in DC and imagined them doing a “farewell tour” to all the monuments. Here they are pictured in “I heart DC” shirts taking a photo in front of the statue of Honest Abe at the Lincoln Memorial.
